Probably history's most challenging info design project: teach aliens about us. Crammed our solar system's location, Earth's position and humans relative to spacecraft in 3 index cards' worth of space. The hyperfine transition of neutral hydrogen part is lost on me; we'll just have to hope the recipients are smarter than me.

Tufte's farcical Pioneer Plaque redesign suggests he finds the original pointless. Despite his focus on the universality of gravity, he fails to offer any serious improvements on the original.
